Shaquana Roy, Practice Manager
Hi, my name is Shaquana. I’ve been employed with Washington Internists Group for over 2 years as the Practice Manager. I was born in Alexandria, VA where I reside and attended public schools in Fairfax County.
I attended ACT College where I received my diploma as a Medical Assistant in 2002. I worked as a Medical Assistant for 20 years with experience in OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Radiology and Cardiology. I decided to go back to school to further my education and graduated with Honors from ECPI University in Virginia Beach, VA, with a Bachelor of Science degree and returned to school for my Master of Business Administration degree.
This is a quote that I live by: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." — John Quincy Adams
In my spare time, I like to spend time with family or sit by the water with a nice book and go shopping.
I hope to see you soon.
Francis Kelly, Medical Assistant
My name is Francis L. Kelley I am currently a Medical Assistant at Washington Internists Group. I’ve been employed at Washington Internists Group for over 32 years. I was born here in Washington DC, where I attended public schools.
I joined the US Army in 1986 and I was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1992. I attended Margaret Murray Washington Nursing School from 1980-1984 for Nursing and MMW Practical Nursing School from 1985-1986. I was trained by the US Army in 1986 as (Medic) 91-Alpha & 91-Bravo.
My favorite quote from Maya Angelou: “I’m convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they’re stones that don’t matter. As long as you’re breathing, it’s never too late to do some good.”
In my spare time, I assist my sons with childcare on my days off. I love taking care of my granddaughters. I want to start traveling before I turn 60 years old. I enjoy the patients who have been with the practice for over 15 years, just because they remember the very first doctors that I worked with in the practice, Dr. Perry and Dr. Lawrenz and I miss them both. I was raised by a nurturing grandmother, and I feel that nurturing is in my blood.

I relocated to Maryland in 1996, working for Holy Cross for a year and a half as a Pre-Certification coordinator for upcoming outpatient surgeries.
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, and long drives—you discover things you’ve never seen or visited taking the scenic route.
The doctors here, past and present, has always been my motivation to continue working for this practice. THEY ARE THE BEST!!!! And I want to be the best me for them.
Life is ever evolving.
To live is to change, embrace it.
Michael Edwards, Medical Receptionist
My name is Michael Edwards, and I am a medical receptionist here at W.I.G. I have been in the medical field for 24 years, doing a host of duties such as managing medical records for 13 years with Inova and managing Mount Vernon Internal Medicine’s call center for 10 years. My goal is to make sure every patient is greeted with a smile because I believe if the visit starts on a positive note, it will end on a positive note! I live by the quote “It all starts with me”, meaning no matter the course life goes in, it starts with me to make a change. In my spare time, I love to cook and sing. Patients first! Mike
Erykah Proctor, Medical Receptionist/MA
My name is Erykah Proctor, I am a medical assistant and receptionist. I was born and raised in Washington, DC, where I attended Prospect college in 2015 to pursue my career in medical assisting. Although I have only been in this practice for 6 months, I’ve been in the medical profession for 8 years, with experience in OB/GYN, orthopedics, internal medicine, sports medicine and cardiology. Building relationships with my patients is what keeps me going at work. William James once said, “If you can change your mind, you can change your life”, which to me means if your mindset is always evolving, then so are you! In my spare time I enjoy travelling, trying new food places, and spending time with my friends. I look forward to working with you soon!
Ayanna Vann, Medical Receptionist/MA
My name is Ayanna Vann. I am a medical assistant, working alongside our doctors, as well as a receptionist, answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, etc. Although I have only been with the practice for a few months, I have been a medical assistant for four years. I have experience in departments such as dermatology, OB/GYN, ENT, orthopedics, primary care, cardiology and many more. Every day I live by the quote “She believed she could, so she did”, telling me I can do anything I put my mind to. Along with this quote, the bonds I build with my patients and the knowledge that I can help save someone’s life is what keeps me motivated to do the work I do. In my free time I enjoy trying new restaurants (especially if there’s tacos!), travelling out of state, and cooking new recipes! I hope I get to assist you soon!
